Is it time to change in your life? I know some women who are facing changes. The changes close to me look like this:
- new job/schedule
- long-term illness diagnosis
- hormonal changes
- new season of life
- moving to a new state
- new church family
- changing approach to schooling kids
On the Come Have a Peace Facebook page, several of you sweet readers added these changes to the list:
- New nutritional lifestyle
- Parenting special needs kids
- In-law moving in with you
- Taking care of aging or ill parents
- Last child off to college
- Fostering to adopt a child
- What would you add?
I’m asking the Lord to help me see why change is hard and how to face it well. Check out today’s vlog to see if you can relate to my confession and to see if change does the same thing in your life as it does in mine! (Can’t see it? Just click here.)

Wow – this one hit me where it hurts! In the waistband! I have been stress eating too and the habit turned into a lifestyle! I am trying to remember that when Jesus tempted He had a great answer: “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matt 4:4). Wonderful confession – LOVE the vlog!! 🙂

My family has been surprised at me. Jo said, “You’re not usually a stress eater, Mom!” And I’m not, but I supposed I was reaching for the closest source of comfort. Counterfeit! I’ll remember that excellent verse you share about Jesus’ own temptation. So glad you loved the vlog! 😉 It was fun to do in the Krispy Kreme parking lot!

My first question is… what does that new doughnut with caramel taste like? I’ve had my eye on it since I saw the ad that came to our house. My second question is… why would you waste your doughnut calories on DD instead of the WAY better KK? 🙂
This is so good, Julie. Thank you for being willing to be exposed to us, too. It is encouraging because it is provoking me pause and take a look at some of my substitutions during this season of change.
Search me, oh God…
Julie Sanders says
Yes, the substitutions. And who knew donuts would be my “idol” of choice … which leads me to why I went to DD: convenience. But now that I’ve had the new doughnut with caramel, I think I might be willing to drive the extra miles. You DO have to taste it, because when you’re in the mood for a doughnut, it’s really one of the best!!! Sadly, I’ve had enough to know 🙁

Oh my – it must be something about school starting! Last year, the night before my youngest started Kindergarten, it was me in the parking lot at Kroger’s with a box of 2-bite brownies and Milo’s tea – crying like crazy. It’s so easy to go to the counterfeit – why do we do that when our True Comfort is so close at hand.
Julie Sanders says
And there’s a definite chocolate theme here 🙂 Maybe we go to the counterfeit just because it IS so easy … and yet it’s just like the calories: EMPTY. School starting does have a way of making the changes more obvious. I hope this year’s first day of school eve will be more exciting than stressful for you 🙂
