The closer I get to our Asia team departure date, the louder the whispers grow … “You’re not prepared enough. You haven’t thought of everything. You’re going to be so tired. You’re going to be overwhelmed. You’re not an adequate team leader. You have to take 7 girls/women there and bring them all back. You have to make sure that your team has a great experience. You have to make the national people fee loved. You can NOT be jet lagged! You don’t have enough to give. Why did you do this?” Satan loves to stir up doubts and insecurities to keep us from focusing on God’s power (not our own) and His agenda. Jeff reminds me of this. You can remind me too. 🙂 I give you permission. The Enemy even loves to throw in security threats and a new travel advisory, just for “fun” to shake the trust of those going where God sends. All of this and SO MUCH MORE is why we pray and why we covet your prayers with us.
I’m asking myself, “Am I the person I need to be to share God’s love with others?”
In the last 2 weeks of preparation for my team, we have some important questions to answer. This week we’re answering the question, “Who do I need to be to share?”
If you arm yourself with cultural awareness, a study Bible, an updated passport, some foreign currency, and prepared lessons, doesn’t that make you the kind of person who is “qualified” to share Christ with others? And how about if you’re the “welcome wagon” in your neighborhood, game-mom extraordinaire, lover of water balloons, craft mistress, and able to recite the Romans road without cheating? Doesn’t that make you the kind of person to share Christ at Vacation Bible School?
Those are good things, even helpful things, but those aren’t “THE” things. In fact, it really doesn’t depend on “me” and “us” at all. Download Week #7 below to find out “Who do I need to be to share?”
