Because I love you, I’m going to give you my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. But it comes with a warning: you will need someone committed to being your “designated driver” who can take the cookies away and hide them from you. I share this from experience and in a spirit of confession.
Feed Me Friday
This is the PERFECT recipe for rainy days or snowy days. I also share that from experience … this week!
My favorite chocolate chip cookies
- 2 sticks of butter (not margarine) softened, but NOT melted
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 T. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
- 3/4 t. salt
- 3/4 t. baking soda
- 3/4 c. rolled oats/oatmeal
- 1 1/2 c. dark chocolate chips
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the sugars and butter. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Combine the dry ingredients and then mix into the creamed mixture. (Or I just layer the cry things on top and then mix in) Stir in the dark chocolate chips. The dough should feel thick.
Put 1 1/2 T of rounded dough mounds on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for exactly 9 minutes and remove before they brown. If you start to see a little golden developing on the edges, pull those babies out! Cool them for 5 minutes ON the cookies sheet before removing to a plate.
This will make about 3 dozen cookies, depending on your dough mounds … and how much dough is stolen from the bowl by passing teenagers or your husband. (I’m confessing now on THEIR behalf!)
I feel so much better now that I shared this recipe with you. Now to decide if I should eat the last 3 cookies calling my name from the Ziploc bag on the counter, or save them for my family. What’s a girl to do?
I hope your kitchen produces lots of love this weekend! Share this recipe with a friend for their kitchen! And if you’re snowed in or rained in and just “all in,” take some time to Reflect on your year, Simplify your life, and Dream about your future!

Hoping to get to enjoy, Wanda. Have a pot of coffee or jug of milk on hand 🙂

Made these today as the kids had a “snow day” (really just a tiny bit of ice early, but we loved the bonus day off!). The were oh so yummy!!! My boy said they are a “winner” (even though he insists he despises oatmeal in his cookies!). Thanks for a great recipe!

You didn’t have to tell him there was oatmeal in there … 😉
