Blog Talk Radio ~ Sharing my journey of faith

EXPECTANT· Growing Faith· Mommy to be· Motherhood· Parenting· Stress

It’s true that every girl has a story, and I wish I could line up coffee dates with all of my blog readers (that’s YOU!) to hear your personal stories! The best stories are when peace with God intersects our lives. I shared a piece of my story this past Sunday on A Woman Inspired (The Price for Surf and Turf) and you can always read some of my story in the sidebar About Julie.

Today, though, I have the chance to share a FAITH story on the Christian Women Affiliate Blog Talk Radio show Journey of Faith.  I’ll be chatting with host Cynthia McCutcheon and sharing the story of JoHanna’s birth. It’s really Jeff & JoHanna’s story too, and a story our families shared in. It’s one of the events in my life that stretched and strengthened my faith more than anything else. Remembering how our own expectations of having a child were shattered was part of what inspired me to write EXPECTANT for new and expectant moms. I’m praying that all who hear our story will be encouraged to keep believing that God is worth believing in, worth trusting in, worth hoping in, worth watching for, even when our dreams are crumbling and we feel helpless. Maybe at that time, most of all, He is worthy of our faith.

Will you pray for me as I share part of my Journey of Faith TODAY at 2:30 pm eastern time on Blog Talk Radio? I find that my heart is still quite tender when I remember the events of those weeks, and I want to tell GOD’S story of His acts in our lives well. In other words … it would be good if Julie didn’Jo in ER cartt burst into tears on Blog Talk Radio 🙂 If you miss it, you can catch the podcast later. I would love to know that our story lifted up your faith as well.

Please tune in today or another time and hear more about why I know we can have a peace that passes understanding in every circumstance.   To give you a little taste of what I’ll be sharing, I want to let you hear a bit of what Jeff wrote to our friends and loved ones over 18 years ago.  It was copied on pink paper and mailed to many who prayed us life and death. We keep a single copy in JoHanna’s baby book.

Dear Friends,

We thought about sending you a birth announcement, but we thought we would be missing out on a chance to proclaim the great faithfulness of our God! As we neard the end of a practically perfect pregnancy, we had no idea that the Lord was planning to weave us into a very unexpected demonstration of His glory.

Though our formal due date was on Jan. 16, we spent a very restless night of Dec. 30 and awoke at 4:30 am on Dec. 31. Julie awoke to find that she was bleeding, and a call to the doctor sent us on our way to Mercy Hospital, expecting to return home, since no contractions or pain had come. Upon our arrival, the doctor checked the baby’s vital signs and in a matter of moments, informed us that Julie’s placenta has pulled away, and the baby had to be taken out immediately. As he called out “STAT” commands, the doctor himself wheeled Julie down the hall. There was no time for me to scrub or change, and I helped Julie on to the table, while the doctor scrubbed ….

What others are saying

"Julie’s writings and teachings have been spiritual markers in my life. The deep knowledge of the Word she possesses, and they way in which she delivers it through her writing are deeply impactful. I would say that my favorite piece about Julie’s work is the way she speaks truth in love. She never waters down scripture to fit someone’s desires. And she does this with so much grace and compassion."
