It’s Feed Me Friday!
This is not your standard weekend pizza, but it’s enough like a traditional pie to send yourself the message that you can relax. This BLT twist combines the fresh of a salad with the fun of a pizza. I start with a traditional crust like this dough from Betty Crocker, but I actually pull out my old red 3-ring binder. It’s on page 167. 🙂 I’ve been making the same basic crust for 24 years … why mess with a good thing? You can even try the Extra-Easy One that starts with Bisquick.
Steps to Make Your Own BLT Pizza
Once you have your dough prepared, shape it just as you would for a traditional pizza with tomato sauce … but that’s where the same-old-same-old stops.
You will need:
- Shredded cheese (about 2 cups per 10 inch pizza)
- Shredded lettuce (about 1 1/2 cups per pizza)
- Diced fresh tomatoes
- Cooked, crumbled bacon (about 1/2 lb per pizza or to your liking)
- Sprinkle your cheese of choice all over the dough. No sauce, just cheese. I like a Mexican blend.
- Bake as directed, but watch to be sure the cheese doesn’t get too brown. I like it a little brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool until it’s no longer hot to the touch.
- Spread a think coating of mayonnaise all over the top of the melted cheese.
- Sprinkle shredded or chopped lettuce over the mayo.
- Evenly distribute diced tomatoes.
- Sprinkle cooked, crumbled bacon all over the top of the vegetables.
Cut a wedge for supper or lunch and enjoy the taste of pizza and a salad at the same time! Where would this fit in your weekend? When I’m tired on a Friday night, but don’t have cash in the budget to go out, this makes me feel like I’ve been somewhere fun!

I made this Friday night and it was a huge hit. I also added some chopped red onion and a little garlic salt on top. Thanks for sharing!
