Last year, it seemed like all emerging writer-bloggers prepared an eBook to unveil at the dawn of the new year. I was left out. This year, part of me wishes I could tell you I have a great eBook just waiting to meet your need, make you laugh, stir you to tears, and help send Jo to college. (JUST BEING HONEST!)
One Less Christmas for ME
But there’s this thing about being less so Jesus can be greater. Not to say that writing a book is wrong, but this December FOR ME, the Lord wanted me to let go of my “Dawn of 2014 eBook aspirations” and do something … greater. And that mean my project had to become less so His could become greater. And I’m going to share His project for me with you before the dawn of 2014. I’m going to share it with you today. I’m really praying that you will use it for 30 days in preparation for the US National Day of Prayer for Human Trafficking on January 11. You could also download it and use it anytime, but I wanted it to be ready in case you want to prepare your mind and heart for this special day of prayer in January. In my hometown, we’ll also be participating in the Run for Their Lives on that day, a race to bring awareness and raise funds to fight modern day slavery.
Do you know there are an estimate 29.8 million people in bondage today? That represents people in varieties of exploitation like forced labor, sex trafficking, forced marriage, and slavery by inheritance. Last summer the Lord planted a hope in my heart to prepare a devotional about human trafficking. It would inform and inspire people to understand and act for freedom. 24 writers came together from all around the world to represent 11 different countries, including Haiti, India, China, Nicaragua, Greece, Romania, Mauritania, and others. I am both humbled and hopeful.
The God of the Released
God loves freedom. Jesus quoted Isaiah when he said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,because he has anointed meto proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind,to set at liberty those who are oppressed,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,” (Luke 4:18). God has a heart for redemption and went to great lengths, lengths we celebrate at Christmas, to buy back those who were captive. People like me and you. In that spirit, I invite you to download your free copy of RELEASED: 30 Days to Stand for Freedom.
So I will not be unveiling something great in January. I am confident this is greater than my lesser plan. Instead, I invite you to receive this gift, the Released devotional, now from me and my passionate friends around the globe. We have shared our hearts. More than that, we pray we have shared God’s heart. There is no cost to you, and we invite you … no, we really beg you … to share it with anyone else who will read it. Please share with just one other person. We know what it is to receive God’s grace, and so we long for others to experience what it is to be Released.
