It’s never been so hard to be a real man. Discovery Channel used to be about exploration and science. Now it’s filled with shows like men digging for gold, trapping in Alaska, and making moonshine in the South, all while being filmed and interviewed so their pictures can be put on t-shirts and water bottles and sold in stores. It’s like we’re fascinated by something we no longer have much experience with. What men once did to provide for their families and survive, they now do for prime time TV and an audience of curious viewers who live out their adventures on video games. The political landscape has shifted, in some cases, leaving men to fend for themselves and figure out their identity on ever-shifting social sands.
Understanding modern men
Now that men have changed, a lot of women wonder what to do with the new breed of guy. If they aren’t storming the castle, building a cabin, or putting up meat for winter … what good are they? And if we don’t look to them for the traditional roles of protector and provider, what do modern women do with the species called “modern man?” Maybe we need to study men in a fresh way.
Day #1 – Study Him
We could have stronger relationships, stronger homes, stronger churches, and stronger testimonies if we considered how God would have women love the boys, young men, friends, brothers, dads, and husbands in our lives. While Come Have a Peace intentionally speaks to women, what if we took the month of love (February) to study men and talked all about “HIM?” Not just husbands or boyfriends, but HIM. Men in general. What if women of faith took a fresh look at God’s amazing creation called man?
Are you woman enough to think about “HIM” for 28 days with me this February? Every day we’ll look at one way to treat the guys in our world. We’ll talk about what God says about His awesome male creations and about what it means for His female counterparts. It’ll be fun to have permission to talk about men for a whole month!
- What does God say about men?
- What hasn’t changed about men?
- How should women today treat men today?
So for today, let’s decide to “STUDY him.” To study men is to apply our minds to acquire knowledge about them by reading, investigating, or reflecting. Women today can understand the men in our lives, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). Let’s get started!
How to study men
- Watch/observe the men in your life.
- How are they unique?
- What qualities about them are uniquely male?
- Do you see uniquely male qualities at every age?
- What do you find confusing?
- Have you ever asked God to give you understanding about His creation of men?
What would you most like to talk about men today?
