How much time did you spend today thinking about heaven? Me neither. It’s in our nature to think about things on earth: Our finances, our relationships, our work, our bodies, our opinions, our politics, our laundry, our kids, out possessions. God knows our tendency and gently says to us, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2)
Movies with spiritual themes
God’s Word points us to the eternal and the heavenly, to life today lived in light of what won’t pass away. After all, Colossians just revealed to us that Christ Jesus is in heaven, seated at God’s right hand!
After a March movie season inspired by spiritual themes in Noah, Son of God, and God’s Not Dead, no matter how you feel about the films, you can’t deny that attention is turned to spiritual stories. And then comes Easter.
Learning how Heaven is UNReal
Just before we celebrate the sacrificial death of Christ and His supernatural, triumphant resurrection back to life, another movie releases. Heaven is for Real releases April 16th. I’ve been bumping into this story for quite some time now, but rather than share the details of the earthly things surrounding this movie, I’m going to take April to talk about things above.
God’s word is a completely reliable source when it comes to things of heaven. God has told us what He wants us to know, and He has planted anticipation for our heavenly home in our hearts. This month I’m going to look at heaven from the Bible’s point of view. I hope you’ll join me in this fresh look at our eternal home.
Of this I am sure: Heaven is UNReal.

“Heaven is UNReal” I love that!!! I admit, I don’t think about Heaven as much as I should. Thanks for pointing that out. Wonderful post!

Thanks Jamie. I’m really excited to uncover some of what God wants us to know about heaven this month. I just get so focused on what’s right in front of me that I forget to look up … waaaaay up! š I hope that this theme about how UNReal Heaven is will encourage us all to turn our thoughts Heavenward. I think it will change life in the “here and now.” Blessings,Julie
