There will come a day when God remodels Heaven. God created Heaven, but He also has a plan for a divine makeover in the future. “Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,” (Psalm 102:25-26).
Only four authors in scripture had privileged visions of heaven, and only 3 of them wrote about what they experienced. They only shared what brought glory and attention to God, without focusing on themselves. Just like God gave Paul a rare glimpse of Heaven for a divine purpose, He gave the Apostle John a revelation of Heaven. As he saw Heaven’s story unfold, it reached a time where he said, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more,” (Revelation 21:1). The earth we know now and the Heaven of now had perished; they had been made new.
“For behold,” God says, “I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be rememberedor come into mind. But be glad and rejoice foreverin that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy,and her people to be a gladness. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weepingand the cry of distress.” (Isaiah 65:17-19)
God didn’t see fit to give us the details of Heaven’s makeover. To even call it a “makeover” is to use an incredibly simple term to describe what is indescribable. We aren’t meant to know it all. Experiencing the new Heaven will be an awe inspiring discovery!
What we know about the New Heaven
- The earth we know now will pass away.
- Heaven as it is now will pass away.
- Heaven and earth will be made new.
- The things that passed away won’t be remembered.
- The new earth and Heaven will be forever.
- The new earth and Heaven won’t have any pain or sorrow.
- The new earth and Heaven will be a place of joy.
How does it make you feel to know that this earth we now call “home” will completely pass away some day?
