How do people of the world make you feel? Uncomfortable? Insecure? Curious? Like you want to stay “home?” Or like you want to order Masaman Chicken and watch Slum Dog Millionaire?
I would never try to keep anyone from eating Masaman Chicken. (LOVE it!) I think that if we’re honest, most of us would admit to being a little insecure around people or things that are different from what we’re used to. But for those who are followers of Jesus Christ, we’ll have the chance to get past our inhibitions and go international for eternity!
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” Phil. 3:20.
We’re given this awesome glimpse into our eternity:
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Rev. 7:9-10.

I love being around other cultures and learning about them, especially India, for some reason. My pastor husband firmly believes that we are called to serve here in America, and I accept that.
But you know what? The world is coming to US! Everywhere I look, there are opportunities to minister to other cultures right here!
Never watched Slumdog for some reason or tried that kind of chicken! Maybe it is time:)
If you have a tender heart for India, get a box of tissues before you watch the movie. 🙂 But you are right … the world is coming to us HERE! Never before have we had so many options for getting the gospel to other cultures. God forgive us if we underuse the potential. Yes, everywhere we look, the opportunities are HERE. Ask God to open your eyes to unmistakable opportunities, and He will. Maybe it will start when you're picking up some masaman carry-out to take home and watch Slumdog with your husband. 😉 Julie Sanders
