Women making ripples

Christian lifestyle· Global Things· Women's Ministry

Women are good at creating ripples of influence. Whether they’re chatting it up with other moms at the playground, sending out God’s truth via the blogosphere, protecting the vulnerable, or committing to touch a child’s life through Compassion, women have a heart to influence our world for good.

Two women having an influence

50 Shades of GreyThrough the online mag Living Better at 50, my Bible-loving friend Kathy Howard addresses the Fifty Shades of Grey wave that has swept a lot of women away. Kathy shares a godly perspective you can trust, tempered by the experiences of life and the understanding of a wife and mother. If you’ve wondered what all the talk has been about this trilogy that grabbed the top spots on the New York Times best seller list, Kathy will help you take a look through the lense of God’s truth.  It’s not just for women “at 50,” but for any woman living in a culture that sees so much of life “in the grey.”Kattarina Rosenblatt

Today’s Christian Woman is online and free. In this month’s issue, Kattarina Rosenblatt shares how she took her own heartache as a victim of sexual trafficking and began a ministry called There is HOPE for Me. She influences other victims by helping them find rescue and healing out of the darkness of human trafficking in the United States. This is a profound article that will open your eyes and heart.

1 Way you can have an influence

Sponsored child Pinterest Contest Compassion International is sponsoring a Pinterest contest! If you sponsor a child through Compassion, here’s how YOU can be a woman of influence using your creativity on Pinterest (TWO awesome things in one ripple!) –  If you haven’t sponsored a child but have had that desire, you can meet children who are waiting here.

Create a Pinterest board titled “My Sponsored Child.” On the board you create:

1) Pin this image to your “My Sponsored Child” board.  Pin the image and associate the following link with the pin: compassion.com/my-sponsored-child.
2) Pin any one of the following and tag this second pin with #mysponsoredchild.

  • A photo of you and your sponsored child together.
  • A photo of you with a letter from your sponsored child.
  • A photo of you holding a photo of your sponsored child.
  • Pin anything else you want that is relevant to your sponsored child or Compassion.

Once you have created your board, share the URL with Compassion along with your contact information, using the form HERE. You will receive one contest entry for every repin your “Pin It for My Sponsored Child” pin receives.  You can also enter the contest by sponsoring a child via compassion.com/my-sponsored-child during the contest period. You will receive 30 contest entries for each child you sponsor.

All winners will be chosen randomly. The contest runs from Sept. 17 to 23, 2012.  Ten separate sponsors will win a $25 gift for their sponsored child.  Five separate sponsors will win a $100 gift for their sponsored child’s family.

Women are great ripple makers! How are you having an influence where God has you?

"Julie’s writings and teachings have been spiritual markers in my life. The deep knowledge of the Word she possesses, and they way in which she delivers it through her writing are deeply impactful. I would say that my favorite piece about Julie’s work is the way she speaks truth in love. She never waters down scripture to fit someone’s desires. And she does this with so much grace and compassion."
