I’m off to a slow blogging start in March, because February was so full with 28 Days About Him, with family needs, and with our church’s Global Impact Conference. But I’ve been looking forward to March to focus on Speaking Life to people around us. Not just words of optimism or fictional happy stories or motivational talk. Words of life. As I listen to the sounds of the world, from individual people or world news, I hear a desperate need for words of life.
Speaking Life in March
We all need to hear such words, to have our questions answered and to find real purpose in unchanging truth. Without words of life, we wither and die, we fight and struggle, and we’re overcome. Our world needs real people to speak life.
I know I’m not the only one who likes to read real stories about real people. I’m not a fan of “reality shows,” though, since they just aren’t very … real. Mark Burnett produces reality TV shows like Survivor, The Voice, and Shark Tank. But this month he’s speaking life through the greatest story ever told. This real story changed Mark’s own life, along with that of his wife, Roma Downey. The couple created the mini-series The Bible and now share the story of Jesus in theaters.
This is a story that speaks life.
The Son of God movie speaks life
On February 28th Jesus, the Son of God movie opened in theaters. A blend and extension of The Bible series, this movie tells the story of God’s Son coming to earth. It’s all about answering the one question with the power to give lief, the question Jesus once asked his disciples: “Who do you say I am?”
As a blogger for Compassion International, I was blessed with complementary tickets to see the Son of God movie. Compassion is helping to share the Son of God movie as a tool to communicate the life-changing story of Jesus. This Sunday, I’ll be sharing a review on The MOM Initiative, specifically for moms who might have questions about taking their kids.
Who do you say Jesus is? In a world where life is being stolen in places like Syria and Ukraine, where life is robbed in hearts in places like the homes of my blog readers, the answer to that question has the power to give life eternally and daily. When Jesus talked about coming to earth, he said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly,” (John 10:10).
This month, the American public will be presented with several spiritually-inspired stories in movie form. After seeing Son of God, I’m praying God will use this telling of His story to turn hearts to Jesus, Son of God.

Will you come with me this month as we talk about the power of Speaking Life? I’m going to have several movie reviews, some stories about real girlfriends in my life, and examples of Christian women using their gifts to speak life. I hope you’ll listen in with me!
