I usually take the weekends off from blogging, but I want to kick off a one week invitation to join me in building a “prayer wall” of sorts. You know that I encouraged you this week to Give Your Wad to God in prayer, reflecting on my visit to “the Wall” this summer. Let’s take one week to build a “prayer wall” here on Come Have a Peace. This is how it will work:
Take a few moments out of your full day to meet a Compassion child, praying for them by name and country. Some children have a special symbol on their photo to show that they:
- live in an AIDS infected area
- live in an area at high risk for human trafficking
- have been waiting for a sponsor a long time
Pause to pray for one child by name, being a ripple of influence in their life by lifting their name to the Lord.
Then come back here and write that child’s name and country on the wall. You can add anything else God puts on your heart. I’d love to see a long list of comments, listing the names of children who have been prayed for.
As a “thank you” for helping me to build a wall of prayer I will be giving away a beautiful Thirty-One thermal lunch tote donated by my sweet friend Kim. It’s black and white and very elegant. I’ll announce the winner after the week of prayer wall building, on Sunday, Sept. 30th.
Enter as often as you like by offering as many prayers as you like. PRAYER IS UNLIMITED! And just think, each time you share a name in a comment, someone else will see the name and “agree” with your prayer. I love that.
Will you join me in building a prayer wall? Let’s give names to needs. You can start by meeting a child HERE and then LEAVING A COMMENT with a child’s name.

God today I pray for sweet Ruth from Uganda. Like Ruth in the Bible may she find the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. Lord may you have a Boaz in her future a husband who can meet her needs and loves you. May the Lord of Host protect her from those who would harm her. May her parents find work to provide for Ruth and her family. Thank you for the faith to know you love Ruth and have a plan for her life. May she know soon that her hope is in the Lord.
Julie says
Thank you for your very personal prayer for Ruth and even comparing her to the Ruth of the Bible. I’ll pray with you for her to know God’s redeeming love. So glad you shared your prayer here on the “wall” and I know the Lord hears each one!

Our precious sponsored child, Bhumika, lives in Balood, India. She’s five years old, in preschool and is one of five children in her family with both parents in the home! We pray for her daily and know that God holds her in the palm of His mighty hand.
Bhumika is our 4th Compassion child – we began sponsoring Compassion children when we were first introduced to Compassion International at a Rebecca St. James concert in central CA (our daughter was 9 at the time, she’s now 22!). It’s been an honor and joy to be a part of the lives of those precious Compassion children and we continue to uphold them in prayer.
Thanks, Julie, for encouraging and inspiring so many!
Julie says
Bhumika is so blessed, Jennifer! What a beautiful part of your lives she must’ve been all these years. Thank you for sponsoring her and for sharing and for being a huge “ripple” of influence in her life! I’m so glad you put your testimony here on our prayer wall as a witness to that. Thanks for commenting!

I prayed for Ruan Duarte in Brazil. I decided to pray for kids that share birthdays with my girls. Both were born in October, so when we celebrate their birthdays next month, I will be thinking of other kids who are having birthdays around the world under different circumstances.

Julie says
I love your thought to pray for those who share birthdays with yours. Maybe that will make this year’s birthday season even more meaningful!

God – Jehovah-Roi – You are the God who sees! I know you see Martha in Bolivia. You see that she has been waiting for over a year for a sponsor. You see the person who can be her sponsor. I pray that you will bring that person to Martha’s information so he/she can see Martha’s precious 6-year-old face.
As I lift up Martha in prayer to you, I also lift up Editha, our sponsored child. As you also see Editha, help us to know how to pray for her. Remind us to continue to pray for her. Help Martha and Editha to “see” YOU!
How amazing it is that you care for us and all of these children – and that you see each precious person.
Julie says
Editha is so blessed to have you sponsor her. Thank you for adding your prayers for Martha and others and for sharing the name of God that is as real to THEM as it is to US!

Lord, I lift up Milagros to you and am so thankful that you see her…everything she’s going through…everything she’s been through…and that Your plan for her is good. Lord, protect her from the attacks of the enemy, give her a heart that is passionate about You, give her boldness to proclaim You and Your salvation wherever she goes. Lord, it’s no coincidence that her name means ‘Miracles” ~ Let her life be filled with miracles that point her and others to You. In the most powerful name of Jesus, I pray!
Julie says
I love knowing that her name means “Miracles” and what a beautiful way to be inspired to pray for her as a result. Thank you Stephanie!

Lord Jesus, I pray for sweet Nahom from Ethiopia. Lord could you please provide for this child and give him the sponsorship he needs? Thank you for the Compassion Network. We pray your blessings on their work.
Bless you, Julie!
Julie says
Agreeing in prayer with you, Rachel. Thank you for lifting up Nahom.

http://www.bloggingfromtheboonies.com/2012/09/sunday-praise_23.html Currently, I am really lifting up the oldest children found on the website. Pricsa, Flora and the faces I have seen residing there over the last week. I know that Uli has been on the website for many weeks, now.
I know that these older children have been dropped by sponsors and they may be discouraged. Because of their age, they are less likely to be chosen. And they are close to completing their time with Compassion and starting a family f their own. I hope they are connected with a loving sponsor who will write at least once a month and minister to them in the time they have left in Compassion.
Last night, my husband mentioned taking on child #14, so we are praying about that and wondering who the Lord will lead us to. I know it will be one of the oldest adolescents on the website, though.
Julie says
I love your testimony that you share about talking with your husband and about your heart for the older ones. So glad you took time to pass that on Michelle. Blessings, Julie

Today I prayed for Miriam in Kenya, a sweet 5-yr old.
Julie says
Thank you for praying Kelly. I will pray, too, that we will meet Miriam in heaven one day, if not here on this earth!

I am praying for Supakorn Juti. He is 10 years old and lives in a Lahu village in Northern Thailand. He’s been waiting to be sponsored for 207 days.
Julie says
So glad you pray for Supakorn, and I know you understand what his world is like. Let’s keep praying for him!

What a hard land for children to come to know Jesus. Thanks for praying for Tri and Elin.

Today I am praying for Putul Sharma in Bangladesh. I am especially sensitive about children in the part of the world after personally visiting. I know life is very difficult in Bangladesh, but I also know my God is bigger than any problem Putul faces. God know her specifically and has a plan especially for her. I’m praying she fully knows His love and that it changes her life forever.
Julie says
I love knowing your prayer was lifted with so much added insight!
Michelle ~ Blogging from the Boonies says
My reply a few days ago must have gotten stuck along the way. As usual, I am praying for the oldest children on the website. Today, it is Flora.
Julie says
I love your insight about praying for the older children. Thank you for being so thoughtful and practical and steering MY thoughts to look out especially for those whose “window of opportunity” is closing. Thanks for praying for Flora!

I showed my girls what we were doing, and they got very excited and we prayed for quite a few children. : ) But the first child we prayed for was Akello, a beautiful 9-yr old in Uganda. She has such a sweet countenance; I would love to give her a hug. And my girls’ innocent prayers for them just made bawl. : )

Today I prayed for Maria Vitoria in Brazil. She is in k-5 and loves playing with dolls, like my Lindsay. : )
Julie says
Oh, I’m so glad for Lindsay to know that. Those are the kinds of little details that makes someone “far away” seem so much more real and personal. Thanks for praying with me this week, Kelly!

Praying for Margarita, a precious little 5-year-old from Mexico who has “impaired speech.” Praying for her as I know how hard it can be to get help even in our wonderful country. Praying for the Lord to put someone in her path to help her communicate; most of us take the ability to communicate for granted, but for those who struggle it makes so many things a challenge. Also praying for Reynaldo, our precious, scrappy little guy we sponsor in the Dominican Republic. We are so blessed when we get letters from him. Praying that many more people across our nation will sponsor children and have the opportunity to get those letters also!!!!! Thank you for creating this wall Julie!
Julie says
I love the insight you add for Margarita, knowing how children with impaired speech need help to communicate. Thanks for sharing that! She is blessed by your prayers, and Reynaldo is blessed to be your “boy #3.” 😉 So glad you added to the wall!

I am praying for Herman from Indonesia today. He has been waiting the longes for a sponsor. I am praying that he gets a sponsor soon. But I am also praying he knows that God is a God of hope and love.
Julie@comehaveapeace says
Thanks, friend, for shining the spotlight on Herman. I’m going to pray tonight for his future to be filled with the God of hope!

Praying for Workitu, the oldest girl on the Compassion site today.
Julie@comehaveapeace says
What a beautiful name she has. As I “work,” I will remember her!
Jennifer says
Karen Adela Chunga Yaucan – precious child of God and new Compassion child. Your 260 day wait is over – you are loved with an everlasting love; may you shine as a bright light for Jesus and be filled with His peace, provision, love and Holy Spirit! Te amo muy mucho, mi nina.
Julie says
260 days. That’s more than 8 months! For me, that’s more than 2 seasons. That is a long wait, and I’m so thankful that Karen’s wait is over. So wonderful to know God’s everlasting love will be extended to her in such practical ways. And THANK YOU for sharing words in her heart language! She is blessed. 🙂 Thank you for standing here at the Prayer Wall with me!
Celia says
As I sit here and read though these children’s stories, the tears just roll down my cheeks in a language only God understands, and I am reminded how blessed our nation truly is. I know there is nothing to hard for God because we serve a big God who loves us all, rich and poor.
Lord I pray that you can touch each and every child who needs a sponsor and especially Lord, those who have been waiting for so long. God make a way when there seems to be no way. Show these children just how much you love them. Send people to minister to them, feed them, love them and clothe them. In all things we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
I am praying specifically for these children.
Janet Asmah who is 8 years old living in Ghana.
Dina Manarisip who is 4 years old living in Indonesia.
Farel Miliano Oroh who is 4 years old living in Indonesia.
Julie says
Thank you so much for praying, Celia. When we go beyond a picture to a name and then to a story and to a LIFE, we can’t help but feel compassion for their needs. Yes, let’s pray for God to make a way to meet their needs and draw them to Himself where there seems to be no way! Thank you for praying and adding your petitions to the Prayer Wall!
